It is the time of year when exams are approaching. Your teachers have set no homework ... wait yes they have! It is called revision!

Just because you have plastered your walls with every colour post-it-note available in WHSmith does notmean you have revised. Your parents may look impressed but there is a problem...

The human brain has a tendency to forget things it does not use often. Will you forget your friends names? No because you regularly talk with them. But if you lose contact and do not speak for many years, there is then a possibility you may forget their first name or their surname.

Common sense right? Well no because you think the post-it- notes are enough to enable you to pass your exam!

Unless you use words such as `atomic structure` `proton` `neutron` `nuclear fission` `igneous` `metamorphic` `sedimentary` on a day to day bases, you will find yourself forgetting or incorrectly spelling which costs marks!

You must make efforts to commit these odd sounding words and their meanings to your long term memory by regularly reading about them. This is called REVISION.

Do not fool yourself in to the myth that passive revision is key to success. Sleeping with headphones playing definitions. You have to work hard.

IT IS WORTH IT WHEN YOU REACH THE FINISH LINE.
