I have twenty five years experience teaching Chemistry, Physics and Science at an outstanding secondary school, where I was head of chemistry for ten years.. I have a PGCE in science specialising in chemistry from Leicester University. Prior to this I was a postdoctoral fellow in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Leicester University. I did research for my PhD at Sussex University. I gained three A`s at A level in Chemistry, Physics and Biology at Southwell Minster Grammar School in 1980.
I strive to make learning fun and accessible. I have seen many of my students move on to read medicine or take PhDs in Chemistry. I love new technology and the way in which it can enrich my teaching, but also value old-fashioned methods such as showing the student my thought processes when answering exam questions. I enjoy Chemistry because it is really a set of interesting puzzles, and I need to know how things work. I think that the one to one learning experience with a private tutor can be invaluable in improving a student`s grade. When I go through my own thought processes with a student as to how to answer an exam question, I really add value to the student`s attainment. I really enjoy doing tuition online. I live in Market Harborough in Leicestershire, and love to play the saxophone and indulge in my lifelong hobby of astronomy.
