Information about Guy

I am a Teaching Fellow of the HEA and Moderator for AQA, who holds a PhD in Creative Writing and a Masters in Psychology. I am also the author of four award-winning novels, the second of which was used in AQA GCSE training material. I am an English Language, English Literature, Creative Writing and Psychology tutor for pre GCSE, GCSE, AS and A Level. I now tutor in Newcastle at the City Library (and occasionally home visit in Newcastle) and in a comfortable setting on Palace Green in Durham.

I teach with an approach that boosts academic results through building the students confidence, and by maximising the unique potential of each pupil. It is an approach I have built slowly by only selectively taking on students.

Tuition sessions are informal and relaxed. As each student has a different learning style my approach remains flexible, addressing the students main concerns while building from what they are most interested in. My teaching is designed to fit the curriculum the student is being assessed for.

Availability: I am available most afternoons and evenings of the week, including weekends. Please drop me a message for further details. Please bear in mind a 24 hour notice period is required for any cancellations.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I have taught English Literature, English Language, Media and Psychology at Northumbria, York, Sunderland and Edinburgh Universities. I currently teach Writing for Beginners with Penguin / Random House, Writing Skills and scri pt writing for the the Open College of the Arts, and I moderate Creative Writing exams for AQA. My teaching has been with students from Keystage Three through to adult learners. Previous students of mine have gone on to achieve high grades in their chosen subjects, and some to even see their work published.

He is friendly and a good tutor, he helps you in short term notice. But you might need more with him in order to understand you fully especially if you are not a native English.
