Information about Zahra

I thoroughly enjoy teaching by gaining the child`s attention and keeping them determined to always achieve their best. I`m a very enthusiastic and confident individual who is committed to enhance students` self esteem. Since I am a recent graduate from University College London student myself I find it very easy to get along with younger learners, making sure the lesson is not only informative but enjoyable too. As a part time Pharmacist, I am well equiped to show empathy and understanding towards my students` difficulties.
I tutor from home, mainly because I have a large whiteboard and seem to find it very helpful when interacting with my students. However, I do also teach at local places, such as the Library.

Tutoring Approach:
I tend to use a variety of methods when teaching, depending on the child and their needs, focusing on their age and what their syllabus requires. I am capable to do quick summarised revision sessions, as well as long term lesson plans. Either way I ensure that the student is always given homework and stays revising. I also do small mastery tests at the start of each lesson which consists of a five minute recap test, so the student is required to have revised the previous lesson well. Obviously if they struggle with the homework or mastery test, then the lesson plan`s pace is adjusted to meet the child`s level. This helps to ensure that the student masters each topic before moving on to the next.

Experience: Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring Maths and Science up to GCSE level privately for six years now. Thus, I have worked with young learners from all walks of life, some even with special needs. I have developed my skills on how to become sympathetic and easy going with my students, yet firm and serious when necessary. This is because I feel it is important to allow the student to feel at ease during the lesson, however, they should concentrate on their work at the same time.
Furthermore, during 2011 academic year I worked at an Arabic School as a teacher`s assistant. I also volunteered for various organisations, such as a maths assistant at Friary park community centre, and in 2010 I assisted in a Reception class in Derwentwater Primary school.
I was employed at Kumon and part time at First Class Learning, tutoring Maths and English to children of all ages from 2012-2016. I have worked with children as young as three. Working in these centres has taught me how to ensure the students stay focused at all times. Moreover, I am continually developing new skills through the ongoing experiences.
