Information about Yi Chung
I graduated with a BA Economics from Christ`s College College, Cambridge. My past achievements include 10A s (GCSE), 4 A’s at A levels, a full scholarship to complete my tertiary education.
As careers and futures become ever more competitive, results and performance in academia are absolutely essential in securing a place in one`s society today. I prepare students with potential for applications to Oxbridge and other top universities in the UK and US only, for the subject of Economics.
There are 2 types of tuition that I offer independantly: Academic tuition and UCAS preparation towards university applications. Details are as below:
A large number of parents find that regardless of their children`s high intelligence, they seemingly are unable to score well in examinations. This, in turn, has an adverse effect on their university applications and subsequently, their future. Does this sound like you? Having had a solid foundation in Economics and Mathematics, I offer tuition for GCSE, AS and A-Level with the aim of achieving the best possible results only. Having been a student myself, I completely understand the position and difficulty faced in a regular learning environment - rushed classes, missed parts of the syllabus, lack of understanding of concepts.
My teaching style revolves around complete understanding of concepts before actually preparing the student to study for the exam. After all, what would the purpose of studying be if not to learn and to score in exams? Classes are complemented with dynamic discussion, evaluation of real-life situations, essay writing and mock exams. Prior to the real examinations, students are bound to be prepared with solid first principles and a unique writing style to approach these without any lack of confidence. My classes involve:
- a deep and thorough understanding of the topic(s) at hand
- mind maps to facilitate optimal memory retention
- an analysis of the student`s capability vs. the exam scoring systems to identify the best way to perform
- regular homework with real-world examples
While A-Levels offers a wholesome and rounded approach to education, it merely prepares students for the next important phase in life - university. Suffice to say, a good university molds a student`s future and launches him or her into one`s career. Therefore, it is absolutely important that students strive to get their best shot at life possible.
Having seen and assisted in countless UCAS applications, I advise on potential activities and the writing of personal statements. The UCAS form is basically a sales letter to the particular university - my experience as a freelance advertising consultant will help to hone in on a student`s application such that the university would have no reason to not accept the student`s application. Besides actual preparation, I offer to introduce potential students to undergraduates and graduates in order to get a better feel of universities.
Finally, applicants interested in the challenge of applying to Oxbridge are welcome for additional preparation services such as mock interviews, material preparation, body language analysis and feedback sessions.
