About me: I am a Deputy Head of English at a school in Croydon. I am a enthusiastic and encouraging person who really enjoys working with young people and helping them achieve their full potential. Education is about empowering people so that they feel confident to have a go and make mistakes that lead to their learning.
What I can teach:
GCSE (year 9/10/11)- I have taught the new specification AQA GCSE for nearly 3 years now. I have taught both high attaining pupils and lower attaining pupils this specification. At my previous school, a number of my pupils managed to attain grade 9s. From this specification, I have previously taught: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Jekyll and Hyde, A Christmas Carol and the Power and Conflict Cluster alongside the Language papers.
KS3 - I head up KS3 at my current school therefore I have good knowledge of the skills required at this age.
Essay writing - having obtained a BA, PCGE and I am on-route to completing my masters therefore I have a good grasp of academic writing and experience of teaching these skills. This may be useful for students struggling to write at GCSE, A-level and degree level .
