### I am not presently taking on any new students. ###
I`m a qualified teacher with several years` experience, and I`ve tutored many students through GCSEs, A-Levels and university applications. I currently work in research at the University of Bristol, and before that I ran a science department in a brand new school I helped to set up.
I`m friendly and approachable and enjoy teaching very much. My students have said that they like my lessons as they are challenging and fun and I make subjects relevant to them.
I studied a Masters in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol, nearly became a rocket scientist, but decided that I enjoyed working with young people too much (most rocket scientists are very old...). Previous jobs include acting, research, and working in the wilds of Scotland taking young people on climbing and abseiling expeditions.
Availability: Evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I`m currently taking a break from teaching to study a PhD in Bristol, but am still accepting a limited number of tutees - get in touch!
Previously I helped set up a new school in London as Head of Science. I was previously Head of Physics at a NW London secondary school. I taught A-Level Physics and all other Sciences up to GCSE level.
I also train and mentor other teachers to help them be the very best teachers that they can be. I am part of a network of teachers around the UK who collaborate in addressing disadvantage in the most challenging schools.
I am very flexible to the needs of my students and the wishes of their parents. If you would like me to prepare a curriculum based on my assessment of your current attainment and set a timetable for work to be done, I can do that. If you`d rather our tutorials were more informal, where you can choose what we study each session, I can do that too. Get in touch and we can discuss your needs.
I have access to a very wide range of resources for all levels and abilities, and I also prepare custom resources for individual students. Whatever your study preferences, I can cater for them.

After struggling with AS physics for a number of months I decided to get a physics tutor and I am so glad that I did! Steve is genuinely enthusiastic about physics and has the ability to communicate things in a way that is easy to understand, even the most difficult of concepts. I found that I started to take a genuine interest in the subject and this is reflected in the large improvement between January and June exam results (after starting the tutoring in March).

My son was really struggling with AS physics when he reluctantly agreed to tuition. He emerged beaming from his first session with Steve saying he`d already `learned loads `and really enjoyed it. After 6 months of tuition he has now surprised us all by choosing to continue physics to A2. Steve`s enthusiasm for his subject is infectious, he is really good at explaining difficult concepts in a fun way and goes the extra mile to prepare his lessons and tailor his teaching to the unique needs of his tutee giving them valuable insights into passing exams that they can apply to all their subhjects. I would highly recommend him.
