Information about Tom
I am passionate about my subject and helping others achieve enjoyment and success in their music-making. This translates directly in my teaching as I believe strongly that to achieve success in learning an instrument there must be an element of enjoyment in order to motivate practice and progress, combined with good technique (which I build in through encouraging good practice routines). I have an advanced level of musicianship that gives a confidence in my knowledge of music which has assisted in continued success in my tutoring.
Availability: COVID19 has completely changed my teaching schedule. There are no face-to-face lessons but I am offering online lessons. Do get in touch to see if I can fit you in my much lighter schedule!
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been teaching piano and flute, with some music theory where required, privately, since 2007.
I have had a 100% pass rate in the ABRSM grades, for both piano and flute, with most of my students achieving merits or higher in both the classical and jazz syllabuses.
I have also had experience teaching whole classes at KS3 and KS4 level which allows me to assist in the learning of GCSE level music.
