Information about Zhe

My name is Zhe, a Chinese native speaker from Beijing and also a fluent Japanese speaker who passed Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1. I am a friendly and patient person who is enjoyable to help others to learn and feels happy when seeing them making progress. I will try my best to help you to achieve your language goals. I also would like to invite you to explore the mysterious Oriental cultures with me.

I have been doing Traditional Chinese calligraphy for nearly 15 years. I am delighted to share the history of Chinese characters and provide you the opportunity of practicing calligraphy.

Availability: Very flexible

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have 4 years of languages teaching experience with students in all levels of Chinese proficiency. My lessons are aligned with HSK syllabus and my students who have taken the HSK exams have all passed it with full or nearly full marks. My lessons are practical and I will direct you to learn the language more efficient. For example, there are some initials in pinyin like "b, p etc" have same pronunciations as in English and most people can pronunce them easily. So I will spend more time on explaining those pinyins that learners were commonly struggling with rather than spend a lot of time to ask you to practise something you already know.

I am also doing corporate training for professionals working in international companies.

Throughout my postgraduate studies, I have taught Japanese to students in preparation for exams or general study for own interest.

I am passionate about creating a fun and engaging environment for students. One of my students had difficulty to memorise hiragana. I knew he liked Japanese songs. So I advised him to learn his favourite Japanese song in romaji. After he could sing the song without looking romaji lyrics, I gave him hiragana lyrics of that song and asked him to sing the song with it. He then found he could easily recognise hiragana characters.
