Information about Matthew
Highly experienced tutor for A-level and Degree level Chemistry, with a passion for chemistry and extensively involved in the tutoring and mentoring of students across a range of levels over many years. I have a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol in addition to a 1st Class Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. I have a dual role as visiting academic at The University of Manchester and Lead Scientist at AkzoNobel.
I adopt a systematic and logical approach to teaching using real-life examples where ever possible to aid the students understanding and visualisation of the problems. This approach not only assists their immediate understanding of the subject, but come exam time, also helps them to identify the correct answer to the problems in front of them.
Availability: I am able to offer tuition from my own home or can also offer tuition via SKYPE to where ever you are. I am available most evenings as well certain weekend slots, so please feel free to contact me for more information or a quick chat.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: My passion for teaching started during my PhD where I taught practical and theoretical chemistry to numerous undergraduates, with particular focus on 1st year students struggling with key concepts to guide them through exams. Since then, I have continued to teach and mentor chemistry across a range of levels, with the same enthusiasm and passion that I have always felt for this subject.
I am also experienced in on-line tutoring up to degree level and am happy to help with exam preparation and as well as the writing and formatting of dissertations and thesis.
