Information about Peter
Only via Skype. Particularly suitable for home educated pupils. After my MA in Latin and teaching across the gamut of ages and abilities and in all Classical subjects, I have been a private tutor for the last two years. I have tutored several Oxbridge candidates in preparation for interviews in Classical subjects, with excellent success. I have a very flexible schedule.
Availability: I am able to work with pupils not studying a Classical subject in school, as their sole subject teacher, or to give extra support a pupil enrolled in the subject in school.
I can receive pupils in my home in Lode, near Cambridge, as well as by Skype or email correspondence.
Mornings, afternoons and evenings are all possible, depending on specifics.

Experience: I have taught all secondary levels (GCSE and A-Level) Latin, Greek, Ancient History and Classical Civilization at a highly selective state grammar school, and at the extremely competitive Haberdashers` Aske`s Boys` School in Elstree (greater London).
I am currently an examiner for OCR and AQA. I have taken private pupils in these subjects.
My pupils have consistently received results equal to the given school`s highest achievements.
I have taught both boys and girls.
I am very familiar with the OCR and AQA (GCSE and A-Level), WJEC, the IB and Pre-U. I have taught using a wide variety of text-books.
My students have succeeded at gaining places at Oxford, Cambridge, Westminster School and other prestigious places. Experienced with 11+ and 13+.
I specialise in Oxbridge interview preparation and improving writing skills, but my skills are by no means limited to these areas.

Peter is a meticulous and very professional. Not only is his knowledge of the Classics superb but he also has a very thorough understanding of the examination requirements and he is able to use both these to the benefit of his students. I studied with him for a year and under his guidance I obtained a Grade A in AS Ancient History. His style is an exacting one but it produces results and I can thoroughly recommend him to you as a supportive and helpful tutor.

Peter has been working with my son since Autumn 2013, on his Oxbridge application, then subsequently on revision leading up to his A2 exams.
The work that Peter did in preparation for the Oxford interview process was absolutely invaluable: he ran practice interview sessions on Skype which were rigorous and thought provoking. He also suggested and worked through additional reading to strengthen my son`s application, and his feedback and advise on the Personal Statement was hugely helpful. We were thrilled when our son received a conditional offer in January.
His A2 revision support was also superb, and last Thursday we got the news that he has met his offer grades and is off to Oxford in October.
Can`t recommend Peter highly enough.

My son had Latin tutorials via Skype during his final two terms of the Sixth Form with Peter. The sessions worked very well. Every lesson was well planned and specific in its targets. Peter is particularly efficient at providing lesson feedback, given to both student and parent. The aim was to strengthen areas my son felt were not as secure as they should be. Peter certainly contributed to my son`s final A* grade.
