I am a violinist and violin teacher with musical education from Trinity College of Music Postgraduate department, the Royal College of Music junior department, and the University of Nottingham music department (performance specialism).
I am currently teaching classical violin and freelancing. My performance spans orchestral to session, musical theatre and folk, among other genres. I am primarily a classical violinist but believe that the inclusion of other genres contributes to a richer musical understanding.
I teach the violin privately and have experience teaching young children of 4 up to adults.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and understanding of the violin. I firmly believe in a strong technical grounding for all students, and feel that the early years are hugely important in forming a well rounded musical understanding and grip of the instrument. I also believe it is crucial to make the violin accessible to all students, and therefore to tailor the lessons specifically to each, taking into consideration their abilities, attention span, personality, and musical aims. I always ensure that technical work is paired with enjoyable pursuits, and aim to make the lessons fun and varied. This could involve some improvisation exercises, or a personalised arrangement of familiar and favourite tunes, for example. My goal is always to bring out the best in every student, and to share my great love of the violin.
