Information about Isabelle

I am a graduate of UCL with a degree in French and Film Studies.
I undertook a post-graduate training in acting at drama school, having spent a year working in the Civil Service and then at an auction house, and am now working (here and there) as an actor and tutor.

My interests include politics and current affairs, writing, poetry, music, languages and literature.

My academic background has led me to have an interest in discursive writing and essays. I particularly enjoyed mastering essay writing while at University and felt that much of my academic success came as a result of knowing how to write well. I am keen to pass on these skills as I was not taught this until I was at University. Essay writing skills are essential even at GCSE level and can pull up a pupil`s grade far more than cramming.

My background in acting means that I am confident but not intimidating. I have experience of teaching and working with young people and enjoy this thoroughly. Having been through University and drama school interviews I think it is important that pupils are prepared for these and are aware of the pitfalls and traps into which they could fall. Trying to find the balance between open and confident without seeming cocky can be difficult but is manageable with the right training.

Availability: I am available at various times during the week either in North or Central London. I may be able to travel elsewhere if necessary. Please contact me and we can discuss your needs further.

In general, I arrange a regular time with my tutees though occasionally have to re-arrange.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: In the last academic year, I had 3 A Level pupils, 2 GCSE (all for French), 2 drama school candidates and one adult learner

I spent 4 years teaching swimming professionally to children between the ages of 4 and 15, including those with learning disabilities.
I have experience of helping A Level students and graduates of honing their CVs and interview skills for Universities, Drama Schools and Jobs. The pupil whose Personal Statement I most recently edited has already received two conditional offers - one from his first choice: Sussex University.
