Information about Helen
I have a first degree (1st class honours) and PhD in Chemistry. I have recently worked in the chemical industry and so can offer industrial insite in science lessons and also to help students when making their subject choices for furture careers. I enjoy both science and maths and feel everyone can come to enjoy the subjects.
Tutoring Approach: I aim to make the subjects as fun as possible to ensure pupils want to learn. I am patient and will make sure the subject can be explained in a way the pupils can understand. I am also set practise work to do between lessons as i feel with these subjects the more you do the easier it becomes and the better the pupils will get. I also concentrate on exam papers- where appropriate to give the pupils the key skills to get the top marks possible. For A-levels in particular there is a big jump in subject demand compared to GCSE. I aim to ensure that this does not put pupils off as with a little explanation things can become much more clear. I am happy to offer intensive pre-exam sessions or more regular key knowledge work.
Availability: All day and evening times possible
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Tutoring Experience: I have been tutoring at GCSE level (maths and combined science) for several years. I have also been tutoring at A-level for chemistry for a 2 years. I have also tutored at undergraduate and graduate level in chemisty over the past 3 years. I am fully CRB checked. I have had good results in maths and science tuition where often a little extra explanation and practice can make a huge difference both to ability and confidence.Contact this Tutor

Helen was an excellent tutor, she helped our son from a D to a C many thanks A level chemistry
Thank you Helen for the excellent tutoring. I achieved an A in my A level Chemistry. I actually got over 90% in the June exam. Your tutoring really helped my revision and made a big difference even though I only had 3 months with you. I need to re-take my Maths it is a shame you don`t do A level Maths?
I had 2 `D`s in my chemistry AS exams and could see uni disappearing over the horizon. Went to Helen and she was superb, very friendly and well organised. Worked me through the whole syllabus for my resits in January. Result 2 `B`s. I was over the moon. That only left a few weeks to work on my A2 stuff with her. Despite that I got another `B` and a `C` and am about to go off to my first choice Uni (Keele) to study Biomedical Science. Helen has been great all the way through, I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thanks Helen, you will never know how much you did for me, without you I would not be where I am. Ellena.
