Information about George
I will be away doing a foreign project, so will not be able to take new student now till the next academic year. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Hi, thanks for viewing my profile.
I have always had a passion for teaching, whether in Sunday school at my local church, or throughout my schooling and as a form prefect I have regularly helped students of different abilities and aims to achieve their potential. I am friendly and supportive, and can provide help with classroom work, extra essays and assignment, and exam preparations.
I`m currently a fourth year medical student studying at Leeds University. As I`m doing a separate degree this year I have extra time and flexible hours so I can put more of my energy into tutoring, as teaching is a passion of mine, and I can fit in even the busiest of timetables.
I have previously tutored whilst at 6th form for a range of GCSE subjects, and in A-level subjects, such as history, whilst at Leeds. I have also been involved in teaching abroad in a Tanzanian orphanage, as well as at my local church and a local primary school back in the North East.
As I have said I have worked with a range of different ages and abilities, and hope that I would be able to help you to work towards achieving your academic goals.
Availability: Away for rest of academic year.
All evenings and all day Sunday. Also available most days.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I worked weekly in a primary school in Benton, Newcastle. This involved group teaching but also specific support for a child with autism to be able to keep up as best as possible with the rest of the class through individual help.
I have tutored several GCSE subjects during 6th form. As a lower school prefect I also had a role in tutoring and mentoring younger students.
Last year was the first year I tutored in Leeds, including tutoring A-level History and raising my student`s overall mark from her predicted D to a B grade.
As I have (relatively) recently been through the GCSE and A-level exams and have continued to teach within it, I have a strong understanding of what is needed to get good marks in exams as well as improving understanding.
Finally after successfully applying to medical school for anyone with specific interests in this field and tutoring I would of course be happy to lend assistance through the process. From writing a personal statement to preparing for interviews.
