I hold a first class BA(Hons) degree in International Finance (with a large degree of economics and econometrics), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Economics and an MSc in Economics. I am due to begin PhD Economics in 2012/13.
My research interests are in the emerging economies, development economics, industrial economics and economic growth and macro drivers like power, energy, freight, oil, autos and construction sectors. My MSc dissertation was on the econometric relationship between carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption and economic growth in high and middle income countries.
My approach to tutoring is firstly one of openness between the tutor and student, so that both can understand where development is required and where time can be best spent. Secondly, I prefer to use examples of real-life circumstances to better illustrate complex economic relationships - something on which I am able to draw given my work experiences. I prefer to begin with basic understanding and then move forward to complex developments - thereby ensuring learning is built on solid foundations before moving on.
Availability: I am available in the evenings and at the weekends.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I work as an Economist for a commodities and mining research firm in London. I have had an internship as an Economist at the Department of Health and worked on Development Economics research assignments at organisations like international NGO WaterAid.
