Information about Kate

Dr Kate Newham, BA, LLM, PHD.
I have recently started working with Oxford Learning tutoring on the BTEC/HND in Law. I have been an Open University Associate Lecturer for over 10 years on a number of criminology and social legal courses. I have worked at both an Undergraduate and Postgraduate level and have worked with students on a face to face basis as well as a distance lecturer.
I have also spent the past eight years working in the arena of crime reduction and social legal studies. My roles have been varied and have focused on improved service delivery, accountability and performance management. I have worked at an operational level in a variety of crime reduction partnerships in different parts of the country. At a strategic level I have written a number of partnership policies and strategies including leading on Fear of Crime, ASB, and implementation of S17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
I have been an adviser on the development of a number of courses. Whilst completing my PhD I worked for both Salford University and Manchester Metropolitan University as a tutor on a number of different criminology modules. For a brief period I worked for the Scarman Centre, Leicester as a postgraduate tutor supporting Masters Degree students.
From my work within the public sphere I have been a trainer to a number of diverse Criminal Justice agencies including the police, probation service and drug and alcohol providers. I have also provided training to service managers on new legislative changes within the crime management field.
I look forward to supporting and working with you.
