Highly experienced English teacher and senior examiner with excellent results

Due to the current restrictions, all of my tutoring will be online via zoom. This means that I can tutor students from all across the world which is exciting! Once the restrictions are eased, I can tutor face-to-face again for local students. I will continue to support any new online students for as long as I am needed.

I am a fully qualified teacher of English with ten years of experience in the classroom and seven years of employment at a senior level with one of the major examination boards. I have three young children and am friendly and approachable. Experienced and well-qualified, I enjoy good working relationships with colleagues and students. I have recently published revision guides for GCSE and am making revision videos that can be viewed online.

I have always shown complete commitment to the children that I teach, using a wide range of approaches to motivate and and encourage my students.

I understand the need for a warm, supportive environment for the student to progress, and to balance teacher-led activities with the student`s own input. Creating personalised resources is also something which I feel can make a big difference to a student`s learning, and I use these within one-to-one tuition.

I find myself much in demand from GCSE students as I have years of expertise at a senior level in examining GCSE English and English Literature. After years of analysing examination scri pts at borderline review, I can see how to encourage a student to write in a certain way or add analytical detail to improve their work by enough to push him/her into the next grade boundary.

Availability: During the holidays, I am available most days throughout the day.

Group sessions starting September 2020 on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. These are dedicated classes for GCSE English language. Maximum 6 students in a group. The cost of this is £20 per hour.

My secondary teaching experience has taken me from inner-city comprehensives to a private school in London to the international schools of Bangkok. I am currently working in a local comprehensive as a literacy intervention teacher, and in a local primary school working with high ability students preparing for their SATs.

As a Senior Examiner at GCSE level, I feel that I am particularly well-placed to help students studying for their GCSE English and English Literature, with specialist knowledge as to how to move students up to higher grades.

I have been providing private English tuition from my home in Woodford Green for six years, and have always had very positive feedback.
