I am an A-level Physics teacher who comes at tutoring from a different perspective, coming to teaching following a 20 year career in Engineering, Manufacturing & People Management.

I am always mindful of a learner`s start point and place academic learning in an experiential context to break down barriers and ensure that all students can access the topic. For example, virtually all GCSE Physics topics can be addressed with reference to how an electric guitar works - once such a hook is in and ideas are no longer abstract, even complex concepts start to make sense.

Similarly, as a trained MBTI Practitioner, I tailor my approach to the personality type of the student - one style does not suit all and an extroverted, action orientated student will require a very different approach to a reflective introvert (if you have ever heard "she just won`t stop talking" or "he`s very quiet in class and could contribute more" at a parents` evening, this is of particular significance). The impact of this factor on progress is massively underestimated and virtually impossible to address in a classroom setting. You can therefore be confident that the service I provide will address your needs by enhancing and building on classroom teaching, not simply duplicating it.

Experience: I hold Qualified Teacher Status and am a current secondary teacher & AQA exam marker. I have coached and tutored GCSE and A level students individually and in small groups and ran enrichment courses for gifted & talented primary and secondary students.

I tutor only my first and second specialisms at GCSE (Physics & Chemistry), adding Biology only for KS3 - I do what I am good at and do not pretend to cover all subjects at all levels.

I also get results - for the last four years (including 2017), 100% of my school students have achieved A*-C in GCSE Physics.
