I am an experienced and qualified English, Spanish and Academic Skills Tutor. With over 30 years` language teaching experience, I am highly professional and organised, with a flexible approach. I can easily adapt lessons for an individual learner’s needs so that classes are engaging and students make significant progress whilst gaining confidence in their language skill.

I teach Spanish from beginners to upper intermediate level/advanced levels to adults and young learners (KS3, GCSE, A Level).

I teach English as a Second Language at all levels for general, business and exam preparation (IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE) and English for Academic Purposes. I also teach English Language and Literature for secondary school students (KS3, GCSE, A Level) and Academic Skills for home university students.

I am also an experienced proofreader of business and academic papers. In my free time, I enjoy creative writing and would be happy to help any students who wish to improve their English writing skills, whether for work, study or pleasure.

I currently offer classes online or in person to students living in my area (NR18).

I have an enhanced DBS certificate and I can also provide testimonials or references, as required.

Experience: I began teaching EFL in a small language school in Athens, Greece in 1986, then moved to Catalonia, Spain where I taught for many years until moving back to the UK in 2012. Whilst in Spain, I taught young learners and adults. I mainly taught general and business English to professionals in companies and in a top business school in Barcelona where I was also Coordinator of Language Programmes for 10 years. During that time, I designed English language programmes for company classes. Since moving back to the UK, I have taught ESL and EAP to international students at British universities and Academic Skills to home students. I also teach English and Spanish on a freelance basis, tutoring students one-to-one and in small groups at home and online. I have recently begun offering an outdoor "Walk & Talk" class for students who prefer to meet in person rather than online and enjoy fresh air and exercise while developing their language conversation skills (Spanish or English). Another option if you prefer to learn in-person but not in a traditional class is "Coffee & Chat" classes in a local café or pub.
