Information about Nazanin

My name is Nazanin and my qualifications include: A-Level English (Grade B), A-Level Geography, (Grade A*) and A-Level Religious Studies
(Grade A) completed at Holland Park Sixth form.

I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature (Obtained Upper Second Class Honours), completed at King’s College London, which is currently one of the top ten UK Russel Group universities in the world according to the QS World Rankings 2020.

My hobbies include cooking healthy meals and going to the gym. From personal experiences, I realised that a balanced diet can be extremely helpful for secondary, sixth-form and undergraduate students. As well as teaching English lessons effectively, I have also previously inspired my clients with this external knowledge, in turn creating promising impact on their academic performance.

Experience: My name is Nazanin. I have two years of experience teaching English Language and Literature, both at GCSE and ALEVEL, this includes KS3, KS4 and KS5.I have previously taught students from multiple backgrounds, for example, those attending private schools, e.g., St Benedict’s and religious state schools, including Sacred Heart Catholic School. Regardless of the student’s institution or background, all students receive equal time and teaching quality.

I teach my students using the online specification (Edexcel or AQA exam board), my personal resources (including my laptop) and online exam questions. Each lesson prioritizes the student’s personal weak points and feedback from schoolteachers is also highly considered. I have worked with students on many texts, including William Shakespeare’s early modern classics: Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, 19th century texts, including Frankenstein by Mary Shelley;; Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson and others. I have also taught modern plays including An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams and novels like Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I am also highly experienced with English Language tutoring, which includes language and structure analysis, writing critically, reading comprehensions and creative writing tasks.

I am a very flexible tutor, which means my teaching style varies according to student preferences and I can also compromise with dates and times. In the past, I have had students (including those who are dyslexic) who learn better visually, in which case I used a whiteboard, images and videos to teach particular topics. Other students learn better orally, whilst taking notes. Some students also prefer mind-mapping, flash cards and note-pages. Regardless, I am willing to compromise to ensure that each student meets and hopefully exceeds their target grades and that they the time and day of the lesson does not clash with their other commitments. Students are also allocated homework each lesson, which they must complete the following week. This will be regularly discussed with the student and parents to ensure that they are completing homework promptly as this is crucial to their exam success.

My previous successes as a tutor include: 6 students receiving a level 6 and above in their AQA GCSE English exams across 2018 and 2019 and others meeting their target grades successfully. In fact, one student, who was predicted a level 4 and achieved a level 6, gave this testimonial:

";Naz, as a tutor, is incredibly helpful and motivating. She always knows how to help and is someone you can be comfortable with, knowing that she can help me improve in English";
David Marku, Age 17
