We are looking for an English tutor to help our son pass English language Gcse. He is 17 years old and has an apprenticeship which requires English language to be a level 4 grade. last year he took the exam twice: In the summer resit he was 10 marks off, so he tried again in the November resit and sadly he was 4marks off, he achieved 77 marks which gave him level 3 grade, the pass mark for level 4 was 81.
Even though our son has left school he was home tutored for 8weeks prior to the last exam, we feel the way he progressed was not massive but all tutoring is good& useful. It was a huge disappointment to him not to pass the exam, but the company has promised to hold his position open to September 2019 to allow him to revise and take the exam again.
We are looking for a tutor to focus on Gcse exam like questions and to build his understanding on how to answer the exam questions I.e encourage more structure to his work and pushing him to fully explain his point of view with use of quotes, examples, use of language techniques and to describe how the writer makes the reader feel etc.
The resit is in the 1st week of June so we are looking for at least a weekly tutor plus lots of homework to be set too please. Our son has dyslexia tendencies but works really hard, has good memory skills and a good strength of character.
