Information about Rachael
Hi, my name is Rachael. I graduated this year with a BA German and History of Art Degree from University College London. I have taught the flute one-to-one and also led a choir at Key Stage 3 level. As a teacher I am enthusiastic, patient and responsive to the specific needs of a pupil. If you are in need of German grammar and conversational classes, or perhaps want help with essay structuring in History or English then please get in touch!
I also have a merit in Grade 8 Flute and Grade 5 in Music theory (ABRSM). I have played in various concert bands and flute groups and therefore have experience in a great range of repertoire from classical to ragtime, jazz, musical theatre and big band music. Having recently been through the ABRSM grading system myself, I believe that I would be a good teacher for a beginner in the flute. I would help my pupils to find the music that they are passionate about and encourage them to use their flute tuition in a way that suits them.
Availability: I have a flexible schedule from Monday to Friday.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have extensive experience volunteering with children in schools. I have previously taken part in musical theatre after-school groups and 2013-14 I led a choir in a local school. As a sixth former, I was responsible for taking care of a younger form group of children and I also helped with special days geared towards the lower school, such as BBC School Report. In addition, I gave flute lessons in my final year of school. I am reliable and hard working and have held various positions of responsibility ranging from working as a shop assistant to sitting on the committees for UCL Music Society and Hughes Parry Hall.
