During your one to one sessions we can focus solely on technique and musicianship or take a more holistic approach adding relaxation and confidence boosting techniques. A typical technique based lesson consists of exercises that warm up your voice, improve technique and train your ear followed by song focused work where we explore the music you are most passionate about. When singers come to me with vocal or confidence problems, I can usually offer an instant solution.
Skype brings singing lessons to another level. Technology gives you the opportunity to learn in a place of your choosing and saves you valuable time. It allows me to hear your voice in even more detail than in person and you can make the most of your lesson time by warming up at home immediately before your session. I can sense any tension in your voice and hear any adjustments that need to be made just like I can in person.

Experience: Musical Background: I have been teaching groups & individuals since 2003 & have been a musician & singer since childhood. I studied singing & all aspects of music intensively for 6 years as an adult.
Qualifications: Certificate in Teaching in the LIfelong Learning Sector, BA Education, DipHE Popular Music Performance. I have also completed courses in Counselling, Life Coaching. Mentoring & Dalcroze (learning music through movement) & completed research projects in learning styles and in dyslexia.
Employments: Leeds Metropolitan University (Singing Group director), Swarthmore Centre for Education (Adult Education Tutor), Artforms (Education Leeds) (Peripathetic Singing Teacher and Schools` Choir Musical Director), Leeds Youth Service (Youth Worker) & Youth Music (Workshop Leader), Ratton School, Woodkirk High School, Swallow Hill Community College (Education Assistant).
After completing a 2 year BTEC in Popular Music Performance at CCOAST (where I was one of only two lead singers so I got loads of gigs) I studied for a HNC in Jazz (Flute & Voice) where I learnt to improvise & apply some pretty serious Jazz theory. Next I studied for a Certificate in Higher Education in Classical Music (University College Chichester) then a Diploma in Higher Education in Popular Music Performance at London College of Music & Media. The latter involved performing music from a variety of styles including: chart, reggae, prog rock, jazz, trip hop, latin, R&B, blues & country. I also learned how to record and produce alongside a curriculum of sight-reading, theory, rhythm studies and other core modules.
Even though I was achieving high marks on my performance course, I was even more passionate about teaching than performing so I consolidated my training by transferring onto a BA in Education at Leeds Metropolitan University alongside working as a Musical Director, Further Education Tutor and Peripatetic Singing Teacher.
