I was a scholar at Winchester College, a top boys` boarding school, and am a first year undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, reading Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where I study Biology of Cells, Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Maths. I got 9 A*s at GCSEs, taking IGCSEs in Maths, English, Music, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and French and Latin GCSE, where I got 398/400. (The maximum number of IGCSEs our school allowed us to take at that time was 9.) I took 5 Pre-Us (A-Level equivalents) in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, Latin, getting 4 D1s and a D2 (equivalent to 5 A*s), gaining the top mark in the country in Biology. I have enjoyed considerable success in national competitions in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, consistently gaining golds in Maths challenges and Biology and Chemistry Olympiads, carrying me through onto further rounds, and a Roentgenium award in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge for Lower Sixth (C3L6), which placed me in the top 50 chemists out of around 7000 participants.
I am currently tutoring an IB student in chemistry, helping her disect and thoroughly comprehend the trickiest areas of the syllabus. I have also worked with someone working towards the Westminster Challenge (Westminster`s scholarship exam) and have three years of experience teaching 9-11-year-olds science.
Over my years of experience and through the more focussed tutoring work I have been doing recently, I firmly believe that learning through tutoring should be a personalised experience, based on each student`s method of learning. Not everyone will understand concepts in the same way, and I see it as my duty to ensure that even the hardest concepts are rigorously understood. I cannot say what method will work with every student - that has to be scultped on-the-go with the student`s aims and needs taken in consideration.
I can tutor 11+/13+/(I)GCSE maths, sciences, Latin and geography and help with A-Level/Pre-U Maths, Chemistry and Biology. I can also teach piano (I am preparing for a diploma in piano) and be a coach or hitting partner on the tennis court (I was captain of school tennis, have played internationally and play for the University of Cambridge). I can also help with Oxbridge admissions and applications to other universities. Since I went through Winchester College`s scholarship exation, Election, and got the highest marks in the year, I would be most suitable to help with Election and other scholarship exams to top secondary schools.
Availability: I am available over the Easter holidays, wherein I could tutor intensively the upcoming summer exations. I can provide remote tutoring over term time, also.
