Information about Francesca
I am a special education needs primary teacher currently working with a mixed key stage 1-3 class, based in Southampton. I have worked within my school for 6 years, teaching a range of children who are working close to age related expectations, and many who are working below ARE in various areas of the curriculum. I have worked closely with children with many different diagnoses. This has equipped with a broad range of skills and strategies to support learners. Additionally, I have worked with many pupils struggling with self esteem, confidence and other areas of need. I am able to work holistically with a child to address and challenge negative or unhelpful beliefs/ behaviour patterns and work towards a more helpful approach to learning. I can support with phonics and early-learning goals, through to KS2 areas of need. Additionally, I work with GCSE English Language and Literature classes in KS4 so my expertise range is wide.
I am Maths and English Lead/ Co-ordinator across my school (including key stages 3 and 4). This means I have an in-depth knowledge of the school curriculum from start to finish.
I have a degree in psychology and I am a qualified hypnotherapist and trainee counsellor (level 5), equipping me with additional skills such as active listening, skilled questioning and empathy. This allows me to support learners with a wide range of needs, as well as academic.

I like to weave growth mindset and resilience strategies into areas of challenge where possible to support emotional awareness and literacy within sessions. I am also able to tutor online. Due to the pandemic, I am proficient in the use of zoom, therefore online tutoring is a platform I am equally happy to engage on.
I am happy to, and encourage, liaison with parents to focus on areas of concern, discussing success and concerns as we progress.

First session went really well. Francesca was very friendly and engaging with my son, finding out about his interests and worries with regards to school. My son came away very happy and looking forward to having help based on the areas he feels he struggles with during lessons.

Francesca has been kindly providing English Tuition to our son aged 8 with ADHD for about 4 weeks. She has been very approachable and engaging. Our son has taken to her teaching style very well which uses Emotional Zones of regulation alongside teaching English. So far this has been quite effective. She is covering key topics expected of Y3 English covering comprehension, spelling and reading. We have had a very positive experience so far and very pleased and very much hope this continues to be beneficial. We are very happy to recommend this Tutor! Thank you so much Francesca!

Francesca is a wonderful tutor for my 8 year old, she is helping to identify areas where he struggles and work on them. Nelson is always really happy during his lessons with Fran, she keeps him enthralled. She has been a lockdown life-saver.
