Information about David
Serbian-Dutch violinist David graduated from the Yehudi Menuhin School in 2016 under the tutelage of Natasha Boyarski. He then received the ABRSM EU Undergraduate Scholarship Award to pursue his Undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Music in London where he is currently studying under the esteemed Professors Radu Blidar and Mark Messenger as a postgraduate. As a young student, he attended the School for Musically Gifted Children in Cuprija, Serbia, where he was under the tutelage of Professor Vladislav Bobic.
He won first prize in 2008, aged 11, at the Jaroslav Kocijan international violin competition in Ústí nad Orlicí in the Czech Republic. Two years later, he featured as a young soloist with Dutch symphony orchestra Het Brabants Orkest (The Brabant Orchestra).
In 2013, David played a solo recital at the famous Guarnerius arts centre in Belgrade. He followed this performance with a Paganini recital later that year as a special guest during his previous schools 40th-year anniversary celebrations. In late 2014, he was awarded the ArtLink Prize as Musician of the Year where he performed another solo recital. The programme included the works of Paganini, Waxman, Ysaÿe and Tchaikovsky. Later on, as part of the Yehudi Menuhin Centenary celebrations in 2016, he played at various venues in Madrid and Berlin before completing a tour of Scotland.
David is a keen self-taught guitarist, singer, composer and music producer (creating mostly non-classical pieces with his guitar and computer software such as Cubase). He also plays electric bass and dabbles with drums. He attended colluvio International Youth Exchange (the summer chamber music course in Preding, Austria) in August 2016 where he toured Europe with his colleagues playing Schubert. Later, in December, he performed with the LGT Young Soloists Youth Orchestra in Abu Dhabi as part of a larger ensemble. David was invited to play with the Radio Television Serbia Symphony in 2017 at the Kolarac University Concert Hall in Belgrade where he performed the first Shostakovich violin concerto (Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Opus 77). He returned to the colluvio chamber music course again in 2019 where he performed Mendelssohns Piano Trio no. 2 with his trio. Tour concerts included performances in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Ukraine and Serbia. In October 2019, David and his trio played concerts in Germany and Austria, concluding with a concert in Turin, Italy.
David is currently in his first year of his postgraduate degree at the Royal College of Music and continues to engage in orchestral and solo music projects both in and out of university. He performs on a 2008 Frederic Chaudiere violin, purchased and maintained with the invaluable support of the Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust.
