Information about Matt
Hi! I am a violin, viola, piano and music theory teacher available to teach all ages and abilities teaching both online and in person. Whether you`re a complete beginner, playing for pleasure or studying seriously; I would be excited to work with you.
Availability: I am currently taking on pupils for Online lessons. Due to the current COVID situation my availability is very flexible both during the day and in the evening. I offer a free consultation lesson for you to get to know me. My rate is £35 for an hour lesson and £20 for a half hour lesson.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have been teaching students privately for over 6 years and am involved in several education and outreach projects. These include In Harmony Lambeth, Southbank Sinfonias education projects, LSO Discovery, the ARCO project at Birmingham Conservatoire and Pro Corda chamber music courses. I am very passionate about yeaching and I love seeing pupils improve.
I play both Violin and Viola Professionally and I am currently studying for my Master`s at the Guildhall School of Music.

I`m really enjoying learning with Matt; I think he`s a great teacher. In particular: - He is very encouraging (I hadn`t played properly in a decade when I started lessons with Matt but he has helped me feel better about how rusty I am). - He is very good at given technical exercises to help with particular parts of pieces, and good at breaking down where technique isn`t working properly. - He is good in helping develop how I want to add musicality to pieces. All round, really nice guy and excellent at the technical aspects of teaching.
