Experience: My name is Maria,I am 28 years old and I have studied English Language and Literature at the University Of Athens,Greece. I am a fully qualified teacher and I have been a private tutor for 6 years in Greece and in the UK. Apart from private tutoring,I teach at a Greek school,helping children with their Greek GCSEs!
I am an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised person who is interested in challenging themselves encouraging children and young people to get involved in activities and enhancing their social and educational development. I am able to change children’s life in a way that they will build their self-esteem and improve their confidence and reach their full potential.
Teaching and being around children has been such an amazing life experience, because I have learned so much from them just as they do from me.
I give all my energy to deliver each lesson as best as I can,and I plan it depending on each student`s individual needs and interests. I try to make students feel comfortable around me, be themselves and grow through our lessons. It is important for me that the students realise there will always be control of the lesson but I don`t want them to be scared of me. If anything,I want them to look up to me,like I did with my teachers when I was their age.
I always plan my lessons following the curriculum but I also take into consideration the students interests. Making it fun and interesting for them is of great importance, because I strongly believe that they learn the most when they don`t realise they are being taught. My students and their family will always be able to contact me in case they need anything until our next lesson, and I am happy to work more than our set hours to solve any issue that might arise.
Being a private teacher for 5 years in Greece,has given me a great experience on how to approach children aged between 6 to 18, and in some cases even adults. Each children is special and different,and I had to deal with a lot of issues that required not only educational but also psychological and emotional support.
