Information about Olivia

I am a bright, patient, and reliable individual with 4 years of experience in Fine Art tutoring and running workshops. I use my in-depth knowledge of artistic concepts and skills to help students expand their creative horizons and push them creatively while building a natural enjoyment of the arts. I hold a 1st Class BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, and hold a keen interest in styles of learning and teaching which are suited to individual students.

I build upon my experience as an artist, a teacher and an ongoing learner to use play and experimentation to help students develop a working practice they can develop beyond our sessions. I find it important to get to know each student well in our initial sessions, to then create individual projects which both build on students` interests and expand their confidence in areas they might not be so familiar with. As a working artist, I see no hierarchy between the student and the teacher when learning art, but create an atmosphere where we can both learn together and make art that helps us understand the world around us.

I am happy to supply references as well as preliminary interviews with tutees/ parents.

Availability: Monday-Sunday 9am-8pm, subject to availability.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have extensive experience as a private art tutor, including for home-schooled children for whom I have developed a creative curriculum based on their individual interests; and for children in mainstream education, where I expand on projects they have learnt in class as well as developing beyond this to encompass skills they may not have encountered.

I have also led various art workshops for 30+ children and parents, including at the Barbican, the London Symphony Orchestra, Arty Party, and Capital E in Wellington, New Zealand. I am confident leading large groups and connecting on a personal level with creative individuals.
