I am currently a second year PhD student at King`s College London where I am investigating cancer metabolism using a number of molecular biology and chemistry techniques. I have an undergraduate degree in medical biochemistry, an MSc in biomedical and molecular research and an MRes in Imaging Chemistry and Biology. I am therefore well positioned to provide tutoring up to A-level for biology and chemistry students. I can also provide maths tutoring for GCSE students.

I am an enthusiastic teacher, with experience helping fellow undergraduates at the University of Leicester during my 2nd and 3rd years there. Having received tutoring for my Maths A-level I understand the benefits that tutoring can have if done properly. I will produce detailed lesson plans and set goals for the student to make so that they feel ready for their exams well in advance if the day. It will therefore become a chance to show off their intelligence and breadth of knowledge rather than a dread of them asking what they don`t know.

Throughout my university education I have used a number of learning and revision techniques including notes, mind maps and kinaesthetic methods (which I have found most useful). These methods enable me to make hard-to-tackle subjects a lot more digestible by relating them to real life examples. This is particularly helpful for visualising biological process or in step-wise chemical reactions.

Availability: I am available at most hours at present, working around my laboratory work which is fundamental for my PhD. I am available most week nights and most weekend mornings but can be flexible with enough time to rearrange my schedule if extra sessions are required before a deadline or an exam etc. Feel free to contact me and we can sort something out.

Experience: I have been involved in teaching and aiding students younger than me in learning Science, Maths and English since I was at school. This continued during my time at the University of Leicester, where in my second and third years attended workshops in biochemistry and molecular biology as a tutor for those in the years before me. I have therefore had a lot of experience teaching and explaining sometimes difficult topics in more manageable ways for many years now. I am now in a position, as a PhD student at King`s College London, to be able to aid those in need at a secondary school and university level with Science, Maths and English if needed.
I enjoy creating brain teasers and coming up with analogies to help explain more complex scientific principles which I have always found useful. This way of learning is a little more kinaesthetic (my preferred method of learning and remembering), however, I am very much open to adapting my teaching to the needs of the student.
