Information about Malcolm
I am an experienced teacher of over 25 years experience, with a BSc Honours degree in maths, and have taught all levels i.e. KS2 - KS4 in schools. I feel passionately that students should fulfil their potential in maths and be free to choose their career path after GCSE, so work from where the students are. I build confidence by explaining the maths using concrete materials and diagrams, then consolidate with practice questions. I have been very successful, in the last year of exams, everyone passing to the level they wanted, some exceeding their expectations as they rose two grades from starting with me to their exam. This year with no exams, students were awarded 2 grades higher than when they started.
I have been the Head of Maths at a secondary school teaching to the Higher level GCSE, as well as to Foundation level. I am used to successfully teaching students skills for the KS2 SATSand 11-plus, as well as having teaching experience teaching pupils with special needs, having taught in a special needs school.
With Covid in mind, I will wear a visor or mask if preferred, remove my shoes and wash my hands before teaching in your home, though I am equally able to teach using Skype. My students have progressed well during the lock down with tuition via Skype.
Prior to becoming a teacher I was a project manager in industry, working with software and hardware projects within the electronics industry.

Malcolm is an excellent tutor with a calm but precise manner . He helped our son considerably by improving his knowledge on the curriculum content and refining his exam technique. His input helped our son increase by 2 grades in his maths GCSE from his mocks.

Malcolm is an excellent tutor. He teaches my 2 daughters who are quite different. Very quickly realised how to get the best from both girls. We are so happy to have found Malcom.
