BA(Hons) English Language and Linguistics from York St John and currently studying MSc Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Central Lancashire. I offer tuition for primary school, KS3, GCSE and A Level with everything in between. I have a passion for English Language and a love for grammar.

I previously worked in administration and as a sixth form supervision at a high school with links to resources relating to English Language and Literature.
I can assist with other elements of academic and school life such as personal statements, essay writing and exam preparations.
Academic learning sessions will be tailored to what you need to learn, with a focus on past papers, essay writing and areas where you are weakest.

I have chosen home only for ease, however, if you find that this isn`t suitable to your learning style we can make accommodations to suit your needs.

Availability: I am a full time MSc student in Preston. I have availability from 17:00 Mon-Fri. This should give time for students to get home, have some chill time before trying to tackle a study session after a day at school.
I reserve weekends for my own time and I think it`s healthy for children and students to have downtime as well so I do not offer weekend slots, except for exceptional circumstances.

Experience: I have worked with pupils with special educational needs (SEN) including speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and autism.

I have tutored university-level students in grammar and phonetics and I`m PASS accredited. Last year I tutored my brother through his GCSEs with all aspects of his English exam prep; literature included Macbeth, An Inspector Calls, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Academic year 2022-23 I have a number of Y11 tutees who are working at a range of levels from iGCSE with texts such as Of Mice and Men and Macbeth, and GCSE tutees studying A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and, poetry (anthology and unseen). During the sessions, I ask my tutees what they have been working on recently in lessons at school and as what they want to work on this week and for the forthcoming weeks ranging from the basics of word classes and punctuation up to poetry and practicing certain GCSE questions on past papers. We have also worked on coursework during these sessions with an emphasis on tidying up their essay writing and perfecting their work ready for submissions (draft and final submissions).

During AS and A Level English Language sessions we can work on lesson content, coursework and past papers to get you ready for those daunting exams in May. Areas I cover for AS and A Level English Language are: Meanings and Representations, Language the Individual and Society, Language Diversities and Change, Language Varieties and, Language and the Individual, Child Language Development and Child Literacy, and other areas relating to coursework such as Language Investigations. I have a comprehensive and working knowledge of phonetics and the IPA which can help me give my tutees background on certain accents or developmental stages of language; this has proven very useful in the past!
