Information about Robert

About me:
I am a recent Oxford graduate from South London, with a love of all things arts-related and over ten years’ experience sharing my passions through teaching, tutoring, and coaching.

Apart from academia and sport, some of my hobbies include painting, playing guitar, and learning languages. I have a natural inquisitiveness in all areas of study, and I try to inspire the same curiosity and passion in my students.

Tutoring Sessions:
Sessions will generally last one hour, and will be defined by your needs. Let me know what you are struggling with and we can work through it together – the more detailed you can be about the topics and problems you are facing, the better.
Literature can be both enjoyable and challenging, and with the right attitude, its study is enormously enriching. Sessions will be highly active on the part of the tutee - a careful and patient approach will be used to ensure real understanding and appreciation of the text at hand.

Oxbridge Applications:
I’ve just graduated from Oxford University (St. Peter’s College), and am very happy to help with preparation for the application and interview process. We can run through exactly what each stage entails, how best to prepare, as well as any questions you might have about the ins and outs of life and study at Oxford. It is certainly worth the gamble of applying, whatever you think your chances might be.

Availability: I work at a secondary school during the day and so am available in the evenings and on weekends during term time, and most days and evenings of the school holidays.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: Since graduating from Oxford university (St Peter’s College), I have been tutoring students in A-level English literature, as well as the Oxford English literature entrance exam, the ELAT. Lessons are enjoyable yet challenging, focussing on understanding through a high level of active engagement on the part of the student.

Prior to this I’ve worked as a tutor and classroom assistant in three different schools, helping children from primary level right up to university admission achieve their potential.

As well as academic tuition, I’ve also professionally coached swimming and karate for the past ten years. The key principles of rigour and enjoyment apply just as much in the sporting field as they do in the academic one, and I continually receive very positive feedback from students and parents.
