Experience: For several years, I have tutored UKCAT, BMAT and helped numerous prospective medical students achieve a place at their first-preference medical school by giving valuable interview practice and mock interviews, as well as drafting and reviewing personal statements. Over this period, I have helped 14 students (86% of tutees) gain a coveted place at medical school within an increasingly competitive system. In addition, I have also tutored medical students in years 3-5 to aid them in their final exams, both writtens and OSCEs, and I currently have a 100% student pass rate, with many achieving within the top 10% of their year group.
As a doctor that has recently been through the medical education system, I have first-hand experience of how to get the highest marks and fully achieve your full potential. I graduated medical school in the top 10% of the year, with numerous merits and commendations, achieving the top 1% in my junior doctor application and receiving 1 of only 8 academic surgical posts in London (>2000 applicants). In addition, during medical school I have also written numerous publications and book chapters that have been published in word-renowned peer-reviewed journals. As a result, I hope I can impart some of my knowledge and either help you gain a coveted place at medical school, or aid you in your studies leading up to graduation.
I have vast experience in the field of medical education and have taught both prospective medical students and doctors as part of KCL Medical School Association, Osler`s Room, KCL Clinical Skills, Debate Chamber, PhD tutors, Simply Learning Tuition, Tutor Hunt, and many more organisations. Due to my extensive teaching background and my background in medicine, I have had many CRB and DBS checks, and also have numerous references from tutees and colleagues.
I also have a lot of experience teaching younger children at after-school and holiday clubs, youth groups, school cricket coaching, tutoring and mentoring of underprivileged children, teaching of First Aid at schools as a Red Cross volunteer and being involved in the Alex Curtis Memorial Trust to educate children in schools by giving presentations on the management of asthma and other allergic conditions.
I believe that it is paramount for a student, not just to absorb information and facts, but to be able to put these concepts into practice through their full understanding. As a medical student, I know that rote learning is not the key to success - it is the ability to use your knowledge to answer diverse and probing questions that may initially seem outside your comfort zone.
I, therefore, construct a simple but effective study programme, incorporating the student`s aims and abilities, in order to develop their strengths and remove any weaknesses. Due to my impeccable organisation, a structured plan is produced to maximise the student`s chances of success and help them to achieve the grades they deserve.
Exam technique is also an extremely important factor for students to understand and, as a result, incorporated within all lessons are methods to succeed in this vital area - a concept I have fully grasped, as my grades suggest.
