Isabel (Tutor in London)
Information about Isabel
I have just graduated with a 2:1 in History from Oxford University. I went to City of London School for Girls from the age of 11, previously going to Prior Weston Primary School.
I took Maths to AS level and English, History and Economics for A level (achieving an A grade in all four of them) and would be happy to tutor maths from primary school age to GCSE level, and both English and History from primary school age to A-level.
I have extensive experience working with young people. I am the debating coach at Wellington College, have worked with educational charity Ark, and have been a tutor for over 3 years. I work for Inspiring Tutors and Blue Tutors, and have tutored tens of people from ages 7-18.
I am a confident and easygoing person. I have not always been at the top of my class in every subject and so I completely understand what it is like to feel like you aren`t quite understanding everything or haven`t achieved your full potential. I benefited a lot from having one on one tuition (both at aged 9-11 to prepare for the 11+ and at aged 17 to work on my economics A-level) and I would love to be able to help people in the same way that my tutors helped me.
Having recently graduated from Oxford, I am especially happy to go through University application processes and offer interview help.
Availability: I am willing to tutor both as a weekly lesson or in a `boot camp` style where I would run half day long intensive sessions .
I am available at any time, every day of the week apart from Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons when I coach Wellington College.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have been a tutor for 3 years, and my pupils have on average gained two grades under my tuition. I work for Inspiring Tutors, with whom I have tutored extensively for the Common Entrance and with children with English as a second language.
I have a 100% track record of students getting through their history admission test for Oxford.
I have been the the debating coach for Wellington College for over 2 years, running classes for young people aged 13-18 for 8 hours a week and have taken them to one of the top three schools for debating in the country.
I have extensive experience in helping write personal statements - having tutored students writing them for all humanities - ranging from English to Politics and Economics, to History to Theology.
I worked for the educational charity Ark, running workshops in Primary schools, helping children develop their argumentation skills and ability to structure speeches.
I founded and ran World Schools Boot Camp, a four day summer camp which coached children aged 13-18 in preparation for England trials for the National Debating team. One student from the camp made the team.
I ran the International Competition for Young Debaters 2016, the largest debating competition for 10-15 year old debaters in the world, and as part of that travelled the country running workshops on argumentation skills for students.
