My name is Sam and I am an experienced, highly qufied Creative Arts teacher. Before qufying as a teacher I worked as a Photographer for for an Outdoor Advertising company and I ran my own Events Photography business. I am currently working as a freelance Art Educator and Teacher whilst looking after my 2 children.

I pride myself in my ability to increase the confidence and improve the study skills of my students alongside with preparing them for university applications and interviews.

My approach to tutoring is based on my experience in the classroom. I am able to understand what a student needs in order to increase their understanding and confidence. I am also able to adapt my approach according to a students preferred learning style.

I am able to provide room for further discussion of key issues and concepts and work with students on essays, assignments and study skills. I have practical skills in photography, film making, editing, web design, graphics and creative thinking.

I am patient, creative and have a sound understanding of the many different ways people learn, more over I am able to tailor my sessions to my students needs. I have taught students from many age groups and backgrounds so I understand that lessons need to be taught differently to different people.

Availability: I am happy to travel to meet tutees (if relatively local), tutor in my home or tutor online. I have two small children but can be flexible with my availability.

Experience: I taught in a sixth form college in East London for 10 years and managed the Creative Production course. I taught on both Level 2 and Level 3 courses which includes A Level Media, Film and Photography as well as BTEC Media Production. I was also a lead invigilator for the BTEC course which makes me fully proficient in both marking work and looking for what needs to be covered in order to achieve a particular grading criteria.

I was a pastoral tutor and mentor as well as teacher which is a role I particularly enjoyed. This involved one-to-one tuition, workshops and intervention strategies for pupils failing to meet their potential or lacking confidence and motivation. I also developed ways in which to challenge students who had the potential to push themselves further and exceed grade boundaries.
