I have recently left full-time academia to pursue a career in commercial law. I am currently completing the relevant law conversion courses in order to join Allen & Overy LLP for a training contract in 2021. I have recently submitted a 30,000 word MPhil thesis to UCL which drew connections between Philosophy, Mathematics and Computability.
I am looking to tutor Philosophy (or RS) at any level, and Maths and English up to GCSE.
Availability: Weekday evenings + weekends.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have experience in teaching various levels of ability. My masters involved teaching a portion of over 10 modules. This would involve hosting tutorials of various sizes: I would present the content, summarise the key arguments and field questions from participants. I also have some experience in more basic teaching. For a year I volunteered at the local library weekly to give free IT tutorials for beginners. This mainly attracted more elderly locals, some of whom had never used a computer before. The tuition ranged from the very basic (using a mouse and understanding what the internet actually is) to the slightly more sophisticated (using email, Skype and home-delivery grocery shopping). This certainly required patience and taught me the importance of clarity and slow pace when consolidating basic learning.
