I`m a very calm, patient person, I`m organised, prepared and reflective.
The child is my first priority; understanding their learning style, inspiring confidence and enabling growth in their learning. Supporting them in the understanding that it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them. I always endeavour to work with parents. Parents know their children best and can provide me with valuable insights into their child. I aways feedback to parents regarding progress.
Availability: **All after school slots are now full but there is limited evening sessions available.
** Morning and early afternoon sessions are now available which would suit home schooled children.

I am a qualified teacher with over 30 years experience in education. I taught in a range of early years settings, Montessori schools, private and independent and local authority schools.
I spent several years working as an intervention teacher, working with primary aged children teaching English, Phonics and Maths on a one to one basis and in small groups. At one school, I worked with a Speech and Language Therapist providing support to children across the school. I loved being a class and intervention teacher but the time was right for me to use my teaching skills in a new way.
My aim is to help you support your child, enabling them to grow in confidence and progress in their learning. I will support your child by reflecting on how your child responds to our activities, thinking carefully about next steps and choosing suitable resources for further progress or support.
I also can tutor online using Zoom. I use the screen sharing option which enables me to work together with the student on engaging, interactive resources which support learning. We can still see and chat to each other the whole time enabling us to build a trusting relationship and develop confidence.

I would highly recommend Mel. She is always prepared to the session. By using a variety materials/tools Mel is trying to level up my son`s English with positive outcome. Every lesson is different and very interesting which helps with my son`s engagement. She is reliable and dedicated person.
