Information about Alexandra

Languages have always been a huge part of my life. My father is Portuguese and my mum is English, I was brought up bi-lingual and then moved to a Francophone country at the age of six. In order to make friends and integrate into my new home, I had to pick up French. Despite having spoken English most of my life, I finally moved to England to study at the age of 18. I studied History and Literature alongside Spanish. I spent my third year of university studying in Mexico and living with a Mexican family. Funny how quickly you take up a language when you`re fully immersed and when your next meal depends on it!

I have been working in travel for 10 years, exploring the world and heading over to Latin America as often as possible. Because of recent developments, I have been made redundant and thought this would be a wonderful time to share my language passion with others. I speak fluent Portuguese, French and Spanish and would love to support students or adult learners and increase people`s confidence through conversation classes.

Availability: I can be flexible and available to best fit in with student requirements.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: Whilst still at school, I volunteered for Handicap International, putting my language skills to the test by translating brochures and information packs into English and Portuguese.

As a student I worked at CERAN Lingua during holidays over teaching English to students from all over the world and arranging activities for them to make language learning fun. I did this over a stretch of three years to support my studies.
