Information about Gil
Hi there! I`m Gil, I live in West London, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Oxford, with a 2:1 in Materials Science MEng.
With a combined knowledge of world-class tutoring environments, a track record of top-level exam performance, and a kind, responsive personality, I aim to encourage your student`s natural abilities to flourish, growing into skills that are more than simple exam-passing techniques. For these reasons, my teaching style is suitable for any student at any stage of progress. Working 1-to-1 with the student, in each session I will lead them towards a defined goal, whilst allowing them to develop their own logical deductive reasoning. Students will advance towards natural conclusions on their own if possible, but I will always guide them gently and intuitively.
Availability: Generally weekdays, with some availability in the evenings, though if Face-to-Face is wanted then daytime hours are best.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: My tutoring experience is largely Maths and Physics based (around ~50 hours), although Chemistry and Biology remain strong interests of mine and I often take on students looking for all-round science tuition. I began tutoring in September 2019, moved to Lisbon at the start of 2020 to teach English on a year abroad, then with the pandemic I returned home in March. Since then the tutoring work only resumed around November / December time, so I have not yet had the chance to work with a single student for the entire academic year, however I am committed to tutoring as a profession and I intend to be available from first introduction through to exam results.
