Information about Peter

I am a qualified teacher with an Oxford University degree and taught for a number of years at Wellingborough School where I was a Head of Department. I then worked for a large national charity and in the civil service, from where I have just retired.

Getting ready for exams is hard work and stressful, and is the reason why most people ask me for help. So I will concentrate on building up your skills and confidence to be able to do the best you can at these.

I enjoy making my lessons interactive and fun. It`s really important for pupils to understand that subjects such as History, RE and French can help them understand the world in which they live and can also be very enjoyable.

I also helped set up one of the first online tutoring services, and even had a pupil who lived on the Amazon river, and got a good grade for History GCSE despite the fact we never met!

Currently, I am writing a travel and history book on Algeria and have just walked the 500 mile Camino in Northern Spain. In the rest of my spare time I love sourdough baking and painting.

Availability: I can tutor in my home, and I am very happy to make a comfortable room available for a parent or guardian who wishes to accompany you while they wait. However, I am happy to travel up to 2 miles from where I live if that suits you better. I am able to tutor online too.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have extensive experience of teaching RE up to GCSE and beyond.

I have a good class History Degree from Oxford. I used this to tutor 20 tutees and also tutored my own daughter at A level when she was struggling with the subject with the result that she got a Grade A.

Having worked and travelled extensively in France and Francophone Africa, I speak and write good French, and am able to tutor people up to GCSE level in this subject.

Currently I am working at a senior level in Human Resources, so can also tutor adults who are studying for qualifications in that subject up to degree level.
