In recent years I have been a university lecturer in English. Now I am taking time away from lecturing to focus on writing and publishing. My research and reviews have been published in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals (list of qualifications and publications available on request). I was awarded my PhD in Victorian Literature in 2014, and I hold an MA (with distinction) in Literary Studies (2008). I am passionate about literature, writing, and effective communication.

I am based on the Wirral, but also cover Liverpool, and offer lessons at your home or a place convenient to you. The classes are £25 per hour. Online tuition (via Skype) is £24 per hour.

Experience: As a tutor with experience teaching A Level and GCSE students, I am familiar with the requirements of UK examination boards. At university level, I have taught a broad range of subjects from Chaucer to contemporary poetry. I have experience assessing the work of university students every day.

My lessons will be tailored to the areas you wish to strengthen for your assessment. I can discuss poetry and prose you are working on, or help you to brainstorm ideas for a particular topic. I will go through past essays to help improve your writing and can also assist with strategies to present arguments effectively and persuasively under examination conditions.

The lessons are friendly, encouraging, and will be entirely focused on the subjects you wish to cover.
