Information about Jake
My curiosity about how the universe works led to my interest in physics and I have always tried to make sense of the world around me. Whilst studying for my PhD I researched new electronic devices based on atomically thin materials that will one day soon revolutionise consumer electronics. It is my passion for physics and experience as a physicist that I will bring to each tutor session. The aim is for my pupils to come away from these sessions with a greater understanding and appreciation of the subject as a whole. This in turn will allow them to realise their potential and achieve their aims.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have 4 years teaching experience as a postgraduate teaching assistant at the University of Exeter. This role involved working in a variety of teacher-student environments including as a tutor to groups in problem classes and as a laboratory demonstrator to pairs of students.
In addition to this I have 3 years experience tutoring undergraduates without a background in physics or mathematics. These were informal, one-on-one, tutoring sessions with Medical Imaging students from the University.

Jake had one off session with my son to help him with an A Level Physics topic he was struggling with. My son said that Jake explained things well and he came out feeling a lot more confident. As he goes through the A Level course, if he needs any further tutoring I would go straight to Jake.
