Teaching Mathematics has been my aspiration since young age and had constantly developed into a great asset and ultimately a profession. My teaching evaluation scores have routinely been higher than the average and goals of the department of education South Africa in nearly every category. These categories include my enthusiasm for teaching, my lesson effectiveness, and whether the learners would recommend me for other learners. Comments from learners have indicated to me that learners appreciate my teaching methodology and would enjoy taking my lesson again. I continually make effort in involving the class in every activity via active learning techniques. I am fortunate to have been able to learn from exceptional instructors, curriculum inspectors, just to mention a few and have tried to incorporate their various teaching styles into mine. I strongly believe in the strengths of problem-based learning, especially in the field such as mathematics education. Therefore, I am willing to undertake any professional program/course to such effect for self-development, performance improvement and to gain more knowledge and understanding of the changes, dynamics and policies that affect the industry and of best practices.

Experience: I have worked as a subject teacher in Mathematics and some other subjects which includes physical
science, English Home Language, Natural Science, Technology etc. for the past nine (9) years and have an extensive understanding of working in this environment. As an experienced teacher, I have been taught to teach, access, mark, analyze and give feedback to learners at various cognitive level of teaching and assessment progress. My experience in teaching has enabled me to understand that a class can never be taught in the same way as a previous one because the field is always changing. New techniques, technologies, and theories are constantly being introduced. I constantly make efforts to keep myself up to date with educational legislation and the issue surrounding education generally.

I have taken the position of Head of Mathematics and Science department, as well as member of the School Management Team (SMT). I took the role of managing all Mathematics and Science educators’ classroom teaching, educators’ profiling, lesson note/preparation monitoring, learners’ classwork books monitoring and feedback, organizing departmental meetings and updates. Representing the department in SMT meetings. Subjects examination monitoring and control which includes learners’ examination answer scri pts. Developing and control of question papers for internal examinations. Frequently checking educators’ welfare and constantly motivating them in other to enhance active and effective teaching and learning. I had also taken a position of Mathematics and Science departmental secretary, setting up meetings between staff within the department, draft agenda, capture and date every minute of the meeting and keep proper records of all the departmental meetings frequently held. I have also been an official invigilator and marker of the South Africa National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination. 1|Page

I played a role of an invigilator and marker. I am involved in confirming identity, attendance, invigilation of candidates during the Matric Examinations, I also confirm, compile candidates’ examination scri pts, and thereafter register the compiled scri pts into the examination database. I am also engaged in setting of Mathematics examination question papers up to the District level.

I have gained a great deal of experience in meeting and working effectively with exemplary teachers/colleagues from diverse background, building a very strong team in order to enhance effective teaching and learning. Being a subject teacher and class manager, my goal has always been to create learning experience that engage the student both In and out of the classroom. Students should come to class, learn something new, work with their classmates to form a better picture of the concept in their mind, and then find places in their life where the ideas are also real and apparent. All this attributes I always manage to inculcate into my learners in every station/school that I have worked.
