I am an extremely patient and cheerful Psychology Postgraduate who is currently working as a Work Coach, but have previous experience as a Learning Support Practitioner for young adults with learning difficulties within a college, and am looking to do tutoring during after school hours.

I have always loved learning and I hope that I can instil this in the students that I help teach.

I have a broad experience in working with children and youths, including those demonstrating challenging behaviour as well as learning and social difficulties. This includes teaching at primary schools, work in Children’s homes, and Special Needs Centres. From this I have developed a lot patience and the ability to remain calm and maintain a positive attitude, as well as a strong understanding for the frustrations that children can experience with learning.

In terms of my own education, I received a 1st for my BSc in Psychology and a prize for the dissertation with the highest mark. I have also continued to complete an MSc in Clinical Psychology, gaining a merit (1 mark off a distinction - damn!).

I studied Psychology (A), French (B) and History (C) for A levels, and gained 12 A*s - As at GCSEs in Mathematics, Science, English, French, Geography, History, D&T, R.E, and Citizenship.

I am therefore happy to tutor for a range of subjects at secondary school level or younger.

I am also happy to give lessons in conversational French for all ages. I am half French and go over to France regularly to visit my mother.

Availability: I offer tuition lessons every week day between 4 and 6.

Experience: I am currently working as a work coach - helping people to find employment and improve their confidence in their job search skills. I have previously worked as a Learning Support Practitioner (TA for students with learning and behavioural difficulties) at a college, regularly helping students to improve their Maths and English. I was then promoted to be a Student Assessment and Support Lead - working with students to provide them with the adaptations they need in their learning in order to succeed. I am familiar with EHCPs.

I have had various teaching experiences including a two month teaching placement in Thailand where I taught English to children from the ages of 4 until 16, as well as a three month teaching placement in Sri Lanka which involved teaching English to college level engineers. This included conversational English, as well as help with practical skills such as job applications and writing a CV.I have received teacher training from the British Council, and am currently undergoing a TEFL course.

I have volunteered for the Small World Project which involved developing children’s confidence, imagination and creative thinking through storytelling, interactive games, and drawing.

In terms of tutoring itself, I have specialised in tutoring primary school level reading - with one student improving 7 grades under my tuition. I have also tutored primary school level maths, GCSE English, and yr8 level German.
