Information about Ned

I am a Final year medical student from Newcastle University. I achieved 2A* and 2A’s at A Level in biology, chemistry, maths and geography and continue to maintain high academic results throughout my university course.
I have been Teaching (AQA, OCR, and Edexcel) Maths, science and geography for many years.

I believe that learning should always be enjoyable and aim for students to finish every lesson feeling more positive and confident in themselves.I understand that not everybody`s mind works the same so am constantly adapting my sessions to the individuals needs. I teach the core concepts of subjects rather than simple rote learning like many texts books. In my experience this fosters a love for science and maths that can simply not be gained by continual memorisation of facts alone. This technique also equips students with the independent thinking needed for the multitude of exam questions thrown at them. I reinforce taught materials through past papers questions and practice examples.

I encourage open feedback from all my students and families, seen on my profile below. I will also happily provide written or verbal feedback on my students on request, with honest and realistic exam predictions and areas for improvement

Availability: Some spaces still open for students 2016/2017

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have taught many pupils over the years, with my expertise ranging from younger children who have fallen behind in classes to A-level pupils preparing for medicine interviews. I have also been the sole teacher of many students unable to attend schools due to chronic health conditions.

For the last 3 years I have ran and organised sessions for secondary school pupils in multiple schools around the North East. I teach a PSHE based curriculum focusing on a variety of topics including body image and self-esteem. In the last year alone this organisation has taught in excess of 500 pupils. This work has given me experience in planning 2 hour long sessions aimed at engaging pupils throughout and adapting the work accordingly.

Every summer I work as a staff member for 2 weeks at forest school camps, a charity specialising in teaching kids nature based skills from fire lighting to map reading. This role has given me a full experience of enabling children to build confidence in their own abilities, allowing them to find their inner self belief and discover more about themselves, thriving in tasks they previously found to be challenging or hard. I feel these skills greatly enhance my tutoring ability with many kids often losing their confidence academically which prevents them from fulfilling their full potential.

Neds positivity and the ability to teach different methods of learning allowed my daughter to grow in confidence with biology. His easy going manner and friendliness quickly put my daughter at easy allowing them to discuss the subject without her worrying about saying something incorrect.
She is now going into her A2 exams with confidence she wouldn`t have had without Ned
I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Ned has been tutoring my daughter now for several months. Always on time and a pleasure to meet. He has been helping her with her GCSE maths, science and geography, and my daughter has been improving greatly with his help. She tells me he explains things in away she understands, remembers and her confidence has grown tremendously in the last few months. A lovely young man, don`t know what we would do with out him at this time in a stressful work up to exams (I`m just hoping he will be about for A levels :) )
