Geraint Rhys

Hello there! My name is Geraint and I am a Mathematics tutor, currently focusing on tutoring all key stages up to and including KS4 (GCSE). I tutor from my home within a custom made Mathematics area and I have a first class degree in Mathematics, a PGCE and an enhanced DBS certificate.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematics graduate and newly qualified teacher with a strong work ethic, who strives for perfection in every endeavour. I am also a previous head boy at Comprehensive School, with exemplary communication skills and an approachable attitude that encompasses all ages and personalities.

Availability: I aim to provide a friendly, committed service that benefits students’ Mathematics education and will do everything I can to help you. I am an approachable tutor who communicates complex concepts and ideas with clarity, meeting the needs of the target audience effectively, while also a competent and nuanced listener. My goal is to provide students with confidence and the view point that they can and will achieve.

All it takes to get started is one introductory meeting (free of charge!) in order to allow you to visit the tutoring area, provide you with all the relevant information, arrange a schedule of / individual tutoring lessons, sign a contract and mainly discuss exactly what you would like from tuition. Student’s who are under 18 will be required to attend to the introductory meeting with a parent / guardian.

Experience: I undertook work experience within schools during Year 10 of school, final year of undergraduate course, postgraduate course and as a volunteer in personal time. As a trainee teacher, learning support and general support, my motivation springs from both the desire to further pupils` achievement and to advance my own proficiency. I acquired initial teacher training experience via the PGCE course, in which I developed an insight into the demands of the curriculum and assessment, and the pedagogical skills they require.

As for subject knowledge, I have always had a great interest in Mathematics and particularly enjoy the problem solving aspects, this lead me to undertake a degree in the subject which culminated in receiving a first class honours.
