I have gained QTS grade 1 outstanding in Secondary English. I am an English Language & Linguistics graduate with a passion for helping young people succeed academically and exceeding their goals.

My experience within an educational setting is multifaceted having worked with students across a broad spectrum of ages and abilities both 1-1 and in large groups.

I am familiar with all popular exam boards at GCSE level including AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge iGCSE. I have an in-depth knowledge of the new 9-1 GCSE both language and literature papers. Last year, 90% of my class achieved a grade 7 or above in English Literature (50% achieved a grade 8 or above) and 50% in English Language. My personal progress 8 score was 1.62 with national average being 0. This demonstrates the outstanding progress made by pupils in my class.

I understand how much pressure students can feel to achieve across all subjects and I am confident in my ability to support students in a professional and friendly manner in helping them to achieve their full potential.

Experience: I am an English Language and Linguistics graduate of The University of York. I completed my training at Garforth Academy in West Yorkshire an Ofsted outstanding school serving 2000 students in the Leeds area. I have taught English across key stages 3, 4 and 5.

Since then I have worked in two further schools taking on the role of KS4 lead. Last year I took the position of Assistant Head of English at my current school.

In addition to my training year I have worked as a learning support system at both a mainstream and SEN school supporting students with additional needs both 1-1 and in small groups.
