Alexander

I am a pianist, trombonist and one-time musicologist, who teaches piano and music theory at my home in Brixton. I am a graduate of Oxford University, and hold an undergraduate degree in music. As a younger student I attended at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where I studied piano and trombone, and performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

I have been lucky enough to study with some exceptional teachers, and hope to pass on this learning by bringing a well-considered pedagogical approach to my lessons. With respect to my piano lessons, whilst I understand the importance of technical facility, I am passionate about playing and making music for ones own enjoyment, and aspire to foster in my pupils a sensitive and intelligent approach to the music that they perform.

I teach at my home in Brixton, on a lovely Brinsmead piano. For hour-long lessons, I am happy to travel elsewhere in London.

Availability: Weekends and evenings.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have taught piano and music theory to young pupils for 4 and a half years. Although I have not taught adults before, I would be very happy to do this.
